“Working with Matt has been a creative dream! My husband and I wanted to stick to the aesthetics of our Mid-century home while not breaking our budget, and Matt helped us achieve both. With fair warning I will say that I underestimated how much everything would cost at the start, and as the project went along it was obvious that if we wanted major upgrades, such as a new electrical panel, access to a gas line, and a new tankless water heater, we were going to have to increase our budget. Without Matt’s knowledge and guidance, though, I’m pretty sure I would still be sitting in my old kitchen just dreaming about a remodel instead of making it happen.
Matt met with me on-site in our home to see the actual kitchen and asked what I wanted from the remodel. HUH? Instead of talking at me and throwing out suggestions, he listened to what it was I wanted from the space. I can’t emphasize enough how important this was to me because several contractors I met with afterwards spoke at me, and not to me.
I had more in mind what I didn’t want than what I wanted for my new kitchen remodel. So when Matt came to us with a handful of creative plans for the space, seeing it laid out through plans, and drawings made it come to life. Without Matthew’s eye for detail, and his contacts and referrals, the work would have taken five times as long and gone way over budget. I inundated Matt with countless emails, texts and phone calls, but his response was always courteous and helpful. He has a teacher’s heart and his patience with me was something I did not take for granted.
I would have no hesitation in working with Matthew Guerrero Design & Architecture again. In fact, we have a backyard that needs reworking, and as soon as we have money saved up for it, I will be making that phone call to him. At this point we’ve used a lot of different contractors on our home over the years, and never have we had the amount of guidance and support that Matthew provides from beginning to end. We went through many revisions on the design phase until all aspects suited our ideas, but in areas when we didn’t actually know what was best for the design, Matthew always had a solid solution.
